Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN DO I BOOK?
Summer rentals are booked on availability, beginning in November and continuing as long as vacancy exists. To ensure your preferred booking dates are available, contact us early.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD?
The minimum booking period is one week.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR RESERVING A COTTAGE?
Check the reservation calendar and click on the link to "Rental Application Form". Complete the form and "submit." We will contact you by phone or mail to complete the process. No booking is considered confirmed until your reservation has been approved and your 30% deposit received, the "Term and Conditions" agreement signed, and your VISA number provided or the postdated cheque dated 30 days before your holiday for the balance received. We will send you confirmation of your reservation by mail or e-mail.

WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENT MAY I MAKE?
1. A certified cheque, money order or credit card for 30% is required with the signed "Terms and Documents" agreements.
2. Overseas vacationers can wire the money directly into our bank account. To book a cottage, we require the following:
  • A deposit equal to 30% of the total invoice (i.e. Weekly rate = $1000, you booked for two weeks then: $1000 x 2 x .30 = $600 deposit)

  • A cheque for the balance dated 30 days prior to the start of your holiday.

  • A signed copy of the 'Terms and Conditions' form.

  • NOTE: If you are making some or all payments by cheque, the cheques must be received together with the signed Terms and Conditions or the application will not be considered complete, and will hold no priority.

    HOW DO I GET THE KEYS?
    The keys will usually be in a lock box beside the door of the cottage or there will be a combination type entry. You will be advised of the combination at least one week before your holiday.

    WHAT ARE THE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES?
    Normal arrival is on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and departure is on Saturday by 11:00 a.m.

    WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY?
    Cancellations must be in writing by mail or e-mail. If we are able to re-book some or all of your dates, you will receive a prorated refund minus a cancellation fee of $75/wk. If the reservation cannot be rebooked you will forfeit the entire amount. You may wish to consider cancellation insurance.

    WHY IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF GUESTS?
    Our cottages are in beautiful natural setting and as such depend on a septic and water systems that need to be preserved. The cottages need to be maintained so guests can continue to enjoy their uniqueness. Children of all ages are people too.

    WHAT ABOUT MY PETS?
    Sorry, pets of any kind are not allowed. Guests who bring pets will be asked to leave immediately with no compensation for lost vacation time.

    WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
    Pillows and blankets will be provided, but you must bring your own bed sheets, towels and kitchen linens. For the Butterfly Road cottage you must bring your own drinking water. For out of the country visitors, arrangements can usually be made to provide linens, and a small fee will apply. Advance notice is required.

    WHO CLEANS THE COTTAGE?
    You do. You are expected to leave the cottage in the same condition you found it, including cleanliness. Cleaning supplies and a check list are provided. It will be inspected as soon as you depart, so that it will be ready for the incoming guests. Failure to do so will result in a charge to your credit card plus an administration charge.

    WHAT DO I DO WITH THE GARBAGE?
    Instructions for garbage disposal are provided. No garbage whatsoever is to be left on the premises or you will be subject to a disposal fee, NO exceptions.
